RESUMEN

El presente trabajo se realizó al comparar datos de los pacientes con problemática social que fallecieron en el primer trimestre de los años 2010 y 2011; los datos se obtuvieron a través del registro interno que se lleva en el Departamento de Trabajo Social y se tuvieron en cuenta los grupos etarios, el sexo,  el lugar de procedencia y los servicios en los que fallecieron, así como la impresión diagnóstica al ingreso. En ambos años predominaron los fallecidos del sexo masculino en el grupo etario de 81-90 años y el Servicio más afectado fue el de Geriatría: en el año 2010 de 24 pacientes 11 fallecieron y en el 2011 el total de ingresados (nueve) falleció.

SUMMARY

This work was done by comparing data from patients with social problems who died in the first quarter of 2010 and 2011. The data were obtained through the internal register that is kept by the Social Work Department, taking into account the age group, sex, place of origin and the medical services in which those patients died, as well as the diagnostic impression on admission. In both years, the deceased were mainly males in the age group of 81 to 90 years, and the most affected service was Geriatrics. In 2010, of 24 hospitalized patients 11 died, and in 2011 the totality of hospitalized patients (nine) died.
