RESUMEN

El trauma vascular es causa de alta mortalidad dentro de la variedad de traumas que sufre la población. El análisis de los datos recopilados en cinco años (2004-2008) sobre el comportamiento de 213 fallecidos por trauma vascular mortal y 23 pacientes con lesiones vasculares no mortales en el Hospital Provincial Universitario "Arnaldo Milián Castro" de la Provincia de Villa Clara fue realizado gracias al diseño de un sistema automatizado de control estadístico provincial de pacientes con lesiones vasculares. Actualmente existe una situación compleja con el registro de fallecidos y las actas de necropsia de los pacientes con lesiones mortales en el Departamento Provincial de Medicina Legal de Villa Clara y surge, como necesidad, el diseño de una base de datos que permita estudiar las lesiones vasculares mortales; también existe dificultad en la obtención de datos en el Departamento de Estadística del Hospital, por lo que nos trazamos como objetivo diseñar un sistema automatizado de control estadístico provincial de pacientes con lesiones vasculares y, específicamente, recuperar la mayor cantidad de información de años anteriores, obtener información precisa de cada paciente afectado con lesiones vasculares, servir de apoyo a la gestión hospitalaria en la planificación de recursos y obtener información estadística actualizada para el trabajo de profesionales y directivos de la Salud. Los beneficios que ofrece su uso radican en el ahorro de energía, el beneficio social, la sustitución de importaciones, el incremento de producción o servicios por ser un aumento de los Servicios estadísticos, la reducción de los costos y la  batalla de ideas ya que contribuye al perfeccionamiento del Sistema de Salud por medio de un sistema computadorizado. Permite, además, mantener un control estricto de los pacientes desde que ocurre el trauma vascular y su llegada a nuestras dependencias de salud  así como los resultados de todos los exámenes y los tratamientos aplicados, brinda la posibilidad de confeccionar y guardar los datos de cada uno estos pacientes y da la posibilidad de resumir información estadística útil en diferentes estudios para valorar posibles causas del incremento de estos traumas vasculares en los últimos años y contribuir a prevenirlos, en lo posible. Este sistema de base de datos ofrece beneficios sociales, económicos y científicos; las soluciones que aporta mantienen su vigencia y actualidad y, por tanto, su generalización resulta beneficiosa.

SUMMARY

The vascular trauma is the cause of high mortality within the range of traumas experienced by the population. The analysis of data collected in five years (2004-2008) on the behavior of 213 deaths from fatal vascular trauma, and 23 patients with nonfatal vascular lesions at the Arnaldo Milian Castro Provincial University Hospital in Villa Clara province was performed by designing an automated system of provincial statistical monitoring of patients with vascular lesions. Currently, there is a complex situation with the record of deaths and autopsy records of patients with fatal injuries in the Provincial Department of Forensic Medicine in Villa Clara. Therefore, the designing a database that allows studying fatal vascular lesions emerges as a need.  There is also difficulty in obtaining data from the Statistics Department of the Hospital. Therefore, we set ourselves the objective of designing an automated system of provincial statistical control of patients with vascular lesions. Specifically, to recover as much information from previous years, to get accurate information for each patient afflicted with vascular lesions, to provide support to hospital management in resource planning and to get updated statistical information for the work of health professionals and managers. The benefits of its use lie on the energy savings, social benefits, import substitution, increased production or services as it means an increase in statistical services, reducing costs and the battle of ideas as it helps the improvement of the health system through a computerized system. It also allows maintaining a tight control of patients from the time when the vascular trauma occurs to his arrival in our health units, as well as the results of all examinations and treatments. It provides the chance to make and store the data of each one of these patients and the possibility to summarize useful statistical information in different studies to assess possible causes of the increase in these vascular traumas in recent years and helps prevent them, if possible. This database system provides social, economic and scientific advantages. Its solutions are still valid and updated and, therefore, its generalization is beneficial.
